Emergency Support Fund for Thomas “Jay” James

Thomas R James “Jay” served 32 years in prison for a crime he did not commit. For decades, Jay maintained his innocence while he diligently investigated his wrongful conviction and fought for his freedom.

As of April 27th, 2022, he was finally exonerated, released from the shackles of incarceration, and proclaimed an innocent man. Although it was a joyous day because the hardest part is completed, the work here is not done. Jay has not been made whole again.

After serving 32 years in prison for a crime he did not commit, entering this new world without any resources is another tragedy in itself. We cannot allow that. He has suffered enough. He needs to be financially secure. We, as a community, can provide him with that security.

He now has to rebuild a new life for himself from the ground up but that is impossible to do alone. After being institutionalized for so many years, regaining your place in society is a hard task. Specifically, when trying to do so without the basic necessities that one needs to survive, let alone thrive, in today’s world. Our mission here and our duty as a community is to give a man that has been deprived of so much, a fair shot at reclaiming his rightful place in the world.

We ask for you to please help Jay get the financial security he needs to have a good start at a new life. Anything you can donate will be highly appreciated.
