We are honored to represent Amanda Lewis of Holmes County, Florida

We are honored to represent Amanda Lewis of Holmes County Florida in her post-conviction relief efforts, alongside an exceptional team committed to ensuring that justice is not only pursued, but achieved.

Amanda is currently serving a sentence of life without parole. But when you examine the record closely, the foundation of that conviction raises serious and deeply troubling questions.

The autopsy in this case was conducted by a medical examiner who had previously been removed from duty in dozens of cases due to negligence, later reinstated under supervision, and then removed again prior to trial before ultimately leaving the state.

The reliability of the forensic findings presented to the jury is, at minimum, very questionable. In addition, the State’s case relied heavily on the testimony of a six-year-old child who gave numerous conflicting accounts of the events. Despite well-established concerns regarding the reliability of testimony from children of that age, those evolving statements became central to a conviction that resulted in a life sentence.

Amanda was offered a plea deal of ten years for manslaughter. She declined and exercised her constitutional right to trial, maintaining her innocence. For that decision, she is now serving life without parole. From the outset, the investigation was shaped not by physical evidence, but by a subjective determination that Amanda was an “unfit mother.”

That initial judgment directed the course of the investigation long before the evidence was fully developed. There were also serious concerns involving jury selection and procedural irregularities, issues that further call into question whether Amanda received the fair trial our system guarantees.
